Overview
Uma Korea (“the app”, “we”) is a community hub for the Timorese community living in Korea. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why, and the choices you have.
Information we collect
- Account information: your email address and the name/username you provide when you register. Authentication is handled by Supabase.
- Profile content: any profile photo, bio, and details you add, plus content you post — forum threads, comments, community listings, and photos you upload.
- Approximate location: only if you opt in to prayer times or nearby-masjid features. Used to compute prayer schedules and sort places by distance. You can turn this off any time in the app or OS settings.
- Home location (optional): during profile setup you may save where you live in Korea — an address and its map coordinates — so the app can personalise nearby mosques, halal restaurants, and attractions. This step is optional and can be skipped. Your home location is stored privately: it is never shown to other users and only your own account can read it. You can request its deletion at any time by contacting us.
- Device / push token: a notification token (Firebase Cloud Messaging and OneSignal) so we can send alerts you have enabled.
- Basic technical data: standard logs needed to operate and secure the service.
- Crash and diagnostic data: if the app crashes, Firebase Crashlytics collects a crash report (device model, OS version, stack trace, and app state at the time) so we can fix stability issues.
How we use your information
- To create and manage your account and profile.
- To provide core features: forum, community listings, events, jobs, scholarships, prayer times and the masjid directory.
- To send notifications you have opted into.
- To respond to support requests and keep the service safe and working.
Sharing and third-party services
- We do not sell your personal data.
- Content you post publicly (forum posts, community listings, comments) is visible to other users of the app.
- We use trusted processors to run the service: Supabase (database, auth, file storage), Firebase Cloud Messaging and OneSignal (push notifications), Firebase Crashlytics (crash and diagnostic reporting), and Tawk.to (in-app support chat). They process data only to provide these functions.
Data retention and deletion
We keep your data while your account is active. You can request deletion of your account and associated personal data by emailing [email protected]. Some content may be retained where required for legal or safety reasons.
Your rights
You can access and update your profile in the app, control location and notification permissions, and request a copy or deletion of your data by contacting us.
Children’s privacy
The app is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal data.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy and will revise the “last updated” date above. Material changes will be communicated in the app.
